2009 Tucson Spring Training
White Sox departure from Tucson will leave a void
The Chicago White Sox will break up the Tucson Spring Training trio when they move from their home at Tucson Electric Park in spring 2009.
The White Sox agreed to pay a $5 million penalty to Pima County for breaking their lease through 2012. The Pima County Supervisors voted unanimously to allow the Major League Baseball teams to move to a new stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The White Sox will share it with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Rockies want HiCorbett improvements
The Colorado Rockies train at Hi Corbett Field through 2011, according to their contract with the City of Tucson. But, they urge the City to make at least $10 million in improvements to Hi Corbett Field.
The Rockies contract does allow the team to leave Tucson early when there are fewer than three Major League Baseball teams training in Tucson. Now, there are only two.
The money received from the White Sox will be used at Tucson Electric Park and the surrounding ball fields.
