Saguaro Cactus


The Saguaro cactus can grow to enormous heights and can live for a hundred years. Most of the sagauro cactus around found in Southern Arizona and Sonora Mexico. Many of these photos were taken at Saguaro National Monument East and West which straddle both sides of the Tucson valley.

The giant saguaro take about 25 years just to grow 2 feet high. Arms don't appear on the cactus untilt they reach their 75th birthday. Older catci live over 200 hundreds years and can grow as high as 50 feet. The the state flower, saguaro cactus blossom, blooms in May. The fruit ripens in mid-summer. Both National Monuments allow hiking and some camping.
