Hotel Congress All Souls Procession
November 8, 2015 @ 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Count on Hotel Congress as the pre and post procession headquarters of Downtown Tucson as the historic hotel kicks off the 26th Annual All Souls Procession by morphing Tucsonans into sweet walking skeletons for free at their Face Paint Town. Procession walkers and enthusiasts alike can take advantage of the family-friendly event in honor of the start of Dia De Los Muertos and what better place to do so than the arts and cultural hub of Tucson. The event is from 2 to 6 p.m. with the transformations starting at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 8 in the Hotel Congress plaza.
Make no mistake, Hotel Congress hates lines as much as you do, so they are employing a texting system which allows guests to explore the historic hotel or hang out in Tiger’s Tap Room while waiting their turn. Due to the overwhelming success of Face Paint Town last year, Hotel Congress has created quick to execute colorful designs and doubled the amount of painters in their face paint army to have you ready to go in time for the start of the procession at 6:30 p.m. After you pay tribute to the departed head back to Hotel Congress for the after (life) party.
In addition to painted faces, guests can get in the spirit with music and bites from The Cup Café with their Taco Bar including favorites such as potato poblano, pork verde, and pulled beef in addition to Chef Karl’s Award-Winning Smoked Tomatillo Salsa. The savory little tacos and the sweet and refreshing drinks will keep you content on your one and a half mile procession passage.
Hotel Congress has been a supporter of local non-profit, Many Mouths One Stomach, for several years and is proud of all the work this grassroots organization has done to bring this sacred event to Downtown Tucson. This is the third year Hotel Congress has hosted a free Face Paint Town as a community service to those partaking in the festivities. The community involvement for such a large event undertaking is outstanding, giving Tucsonans the opportunity to come together to honor and pay tribute to ancestors and loved ones passed.
