Easily located just 18 miles east of California on Interstate 10, Exits 11, 17, 19. Less than two hours drive west of Phoenix with a site capacity of 75,000. Set at the foot of mystical “Q Mountain” is the 118 acre Desert Gardens Showgrounds which, in addition to hosting a weekend of great music, will welcome concert goers with on-site camping, a VIP lounge, beer garden, late night dance tents, cantina, water slide, food vendors, shade tents and top notch first aid stations.
As the festival draws closer, Desert Gardens Show Grounds is transforming into a world class festival site with large scale excavation and construction in an effort to build a perfect 15 acre concert area. As of this release workers are busy moving 47.4 tons of production materials to build one huge double Main Stage with 770,000 watts of crown power inside of a state-of-the-art sound and lights array plus 2 LED-sound relay towers.
The two side by side stages are named “Hi Jolly” and “Camel”. The names are in reference to Hadji Ali an Ottoman citizen of Greek-Syrian descent who worked for the United States military as lead driver of the experimental U.S. Camel Corps. Hadji Ali famously led his camel train from Texas to California and his exploits were immortalized in the popular folk song Hi Jolly and the 1954 film Southwest Passage. Even the 1976 comedy Hawmps was loosely based on Hadji Ali who’s gravesite and monument are in the town of Quartzsite, AZ.
The site layout also features the world’s largest inflatable double water slide, human car wash, VIP backstage tent with observation deck, 250 RV hookups. Inside the fenced concert area guests can enjoy ‘Hector & Pedro’s Saloon’ with 70′ bar and the Late Nite Dance tent.
Planning a festival of this size is extensive, with weekly developments in all aspects of the event. A vendor village is situated inside the festival grounds. There will be three types of vendors; food, merchandise and services. The entire site is also composed of field lighting with portable 25 light towers, showers in the VIP camping, industrial size electrical generators, potable and drinking water, waste removal, recycling and cleanup, first aid & EMS on site 24 hours, fire control and festival office.
Rock Fiesta will use layered festival security from Phoenix. Rock Fiesta is working closely with Quartzsite Police, La Paz County Sheriff & State Police to have a substation next to the site, ADOT, BLM (to use additional lands for overflow parking).
Event organizer Hal Davidson, is proud to speak about Rock Fiesta …”my desire is to do something great to bring the Latino rockers together in one place at one time to celebrate life.”In addition, festival organizer states Rock Fiesta was supposed to be in Texas, then New Mexico, then Vegas. Finally someone called me from Quartzsite. “The city council welcomed us with open arms and we are Quartzsitians now. There are 20 million Latinos within 200 miles of this location. The festival site itself, all 118 acres of it, is intoxicating. There is magic on that land. Plus it’s got great access right next to theI-10 freeway with three exits. What’s not to like?”

Security and Traffic:
Rock Fiesta is taking event security seriously; 15,000’(ft) of fence surround both the 18 acre concert area and 115 acre festival area. Rock Fiesta has 2 separate entrances, one for people driving from Los Angeles Exit 17, and the east, Phoenix Exit 19. Printed on the ticket-backs, in the website and on signs entering the festival patrons are told they may be subject to a quick vehicle search for weapons at entry, patrons stay in their cars while their tickets are scanned and wristbands secured on the wrist of every person entering the festival site. To gain entrance to the concert area, patrons will be padded down and purses checked every time they re-enter.
Rock Fiesta is working with the security firm Special Assignments Group (SAG) and R & S Events, based in Phoenix. The security force starts with 150 guards (some armed), as the event grows in attendance over the 3 next months, more guards will be added. Security is 24 hours. 25 ATVs and golf carts will be adding to perimeter. Don’t be surprised to see a drone or video cameras monitoring the event.
The festival is planning with ADOT and Quail Traffic Control to anticipate ingress over 2 days. Lighted road message boards and light towers will show the way to Quartzsite starting on Early Entry Day, Thursday March 17, intended to relieve the traffic on Friday’s first live music day. The festival offers 3 days of camping and 2 days of non-stop Latino rock music from 12 noon to 12 midnight. “Rock Fiesta is not interested in people’s documentation and it does not have any contact with Border Patrol, our relationship with Quartzsite Police and the State Police only focuses on traffic and roads, the Mexican border is nor close to our location “said Hal Davidson Festivaland’s Producer. Rock Fiesta is produced by Festivaland, LLC.
