3D TV is the next entertainment fad

2010 will be the year of 3D television. Most major manufacturers like Panasonic, Sony and Samsung, plan to roll out 3D enhanced versions of LCD, LEDs and plasma TVs within a few months.

As the new 3D-capable TV's hit the stores, so will 3D-enhanced movies and video games will also be available. Many of the new 3D-TV and games were on dispolay at the recent Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas in January. Read more about the new upcoming 3D HDTV's.

Less expensive 3D HDTVS

The price of 3D TVs and monitors will be cheaper than once expected.

The cost to enhance a 2D-TV or computer monitor is not as expensive as it used to be. It may add about $200 to the cost of a TV set. The biggest expense is for the 3D glasses.

3D Blu-Ray standard set

In December 2009, the industry group that supports the Blu-ray disc format has agreed upon a new standard for the 3-D version of the disc player. The new 3D blu-ray players will be available later this year.

To view 3D images on a television monitor, a pair of 3D glasses, or goggles, is still necessary. The same 3D glasses used in movie theaters may be capable of providing the 3D experience at home. Find out more about using 3D glasses or goggles on your TV or PC.

Two computer companies, AsusTek Computer, Inc. and Acer Inc. have developed a 3D screen on their laptop models. Sharp has a computer that does not need glasses, but the viewing angle is limited.
