2010 is the year of 3D HDTV, 3D video games and more 3D movies in the theaters and, soon, at home.
3D at home is still in its infancy. To see 3D images on a monitor, a pair of 3D glasses, or goggles, is still necessary. The video gaming industry is starting development of The S-3D Gaming Alliance (S3DGA), a non-profit corporation that is 100% focused on making stereoscopic 3D gaming possible through standards, education, and product adoption. S3DGA’s current members include LG Electronics, Blitz Games Studios, RealD, Next3D, DDD, Jon Peddie Research, Sensio, TDVision Corp, iZ3D, and more. New 3D TV channels planned
Most major manufacturers like Panasonic, Sony and Samsung, plan to roll out 3D enhanced versions of LCD, LEDs and plasma TVs in 2010.
Two computer companies, AsusTek Computer, Inc. and Acer Inc. have developed a 3D screen on their laptop models. Sharp has a computer that does not need glasses, but the viewing angle is limited.
The price of 3D TVs and monitors will be cheaper than once expected. The costs to enhance a TV or monitor is not as expensive as it used to be- maybe $200 or so. The biggest cost is for the 3D glasses. Continue reading about 3D TVs.
