Turn your monitor into 3D using WiiRemote
Make a head tracking device at home
With the built in infrared camera in the Wii remote and a head mounted sensor bar (two IR LEDs), the location of your head can be accurately tracked and viewed on a digital TV or monitor screen.
This effectively transforms your display into a portal to a 3D virtual environment.
The display properly reacts to head and body movement as if it were a real window creating a realistic illusion of depth and space.
Wii got it
The Wii Remote controller, developed by Nintendo, combines a remote control device with motion sensing technology.
Reversing the use of the WiiRemote, you can use the device to view images on your monitor TV screen in 3D. The Wii Remote contains a 1024x768 infrared camera with built-in hardware tracking of up to 4 points at 100Hz.
The drawback is it requires special software to download and is only available for PC's. A Macintosh version of the application is not yet available.
Philips, know for its TV screens, will reportedly have a 3D TV on the market soon.
This 3D project was created by Johnny Chung Lee, Carnegie Mellon University. For more information and software visit http://johnnylee.net

Apple developing 3D remote
Apple is developing a 3D gaming controller for Apple TV, according to reports on AppleInsider and nacnn.com. The remote and Apple TV would be similar to Nintendo's Wii gaming consule. The remote would also have a zoom feature. Apple may use it as a virtual apps store where users can roam the Apple Store as if they were in a sophisticated 3D video game.
If you made a 3D remote, using a Nintendo Wii remote or other device, email us at emol@emol.org to share your experience with others.

APPROVED AFFILIATES
The Wii Remote Controller makes gaming as accessible to people of all ages and all abilities. Nintendo fused the familiarity of a remote control with the sophistication of motion-sensing technology -- creating a multifunctional device limited only by the imagination. In a tennis game, it serves as your racket you swing with your arm. In a driving game, it serves as your steering wheel. For first-person shooters, the remote acts as your weapon that you point at an enemy. The list of potential uses goes on and on. Used as a remote, operates up to 15 feet away. Built-in speaker.
