The "Perry Como Show" ran frim 1948 through 1966. The TV seriesw was sponsored by Chesterfields, and it is well promoted throughout the program.

Everyone holds a smoldering stick in their hand, especially Como who backs the Chesterfield's claims of a safe cigarette. It was 1952. Watch the embedded warning about smoking dangers and how Chesterfield is entirely safe.

Como received an Emmy award in 1956 for his long-running The Perry Como Show. In 1980, 1982 and 1984 he was the host of Christmas specials on television, broadcast from Israel, Paris and London, respectively.

Perry Como died at age 88 in May 2001.
