International Travel: United Kingdom Tours

By Fran Walker

The UK may conjure up images of red London buses and Buckingham Palace, but with four distinct countries, a wealth of distinct landscapes and a history and culture to die for,  you will never cease to be amazed by a UK tour.

England

Whether you’re keen for a city break, or a breather away from it all, England has it all. London is one of the most cosmopolitan capitals in the world, combining its unique historical charm with modern bars, clubs and a wealth of theaters and live shows.

Daytime offers fabulous shopping opportunities and a wealth of museums, churches and art galleries.

For a quiet country break, tours of areas such as the Lake District, the Cotswolds or Yorkshire all hold their own unique charms.

Ireland

Ireland tours offer a mixture of unspoilt countryside and culture. Dublin, a popular venue for visitors, offers a wealth of bars and a chance to taste a Guinness where it is made.

Scotland

Sparsely populated with pockets of culture, Scotland offers scenes of natural beauty distinct from those in the rest of the UK. Far north, you can expect snow and colder climes; further south there are idyllic coves, beaches and historical venues.

Edinburgh, the capital city, is without doubt one of the most beautiful in the world. Boasting a castle on a hill, Edinburgh tours offer enchanting cobbled streets, fabulous bars and, every August, the renowned Edinburgh festival.

Wales

The only country in the UK that has retained its own language, Wales offers a combination of glorious beaches and beautiful countryside.

Bill Bryson once called the UK a “small island.” Touring it could take a lifetime!
