This summer, Turner Network Television (TNT) proudly presents a new series WANTED.
The harsh, unforgiving streets of Los Angeles are the scene of the original dramatic series WANTED, a gritty crime thriller that follows an elite team of crime fighters from various federal and local law enforcement agencies as they track down the city's 100 most wanted criminals.
Gary Cole (The West Wing), Ryan Hurst (Taken), Rashida Jones (Little Black Book), Benjamin Benitez (Tru Calling), singer/musician Josey Scott of the rock group Saliva, Chris J. Kelly (Medical Investigation), Sasha Pieterse (Family Affair), Lee Tergesen (Oz) and Dedee Pfeiffer (For Your Love) star in the series set to air Sundays at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), beginning July 31.
As the team tracks down criminals, often using unconventional (and legally questionable) methods, they discover there is a fine line between justice and the law. Every time they go out to get a bad guy, they must walk that line, all in an effort to make Los Angeles a safer place to live for every citizen.
Interview with Gary Cole:
Q: Describe the task force in WANTED.
A: In our story, we have characters from several law enforcement agencies the FBI, ATF, SWAT and LAPD, for instance. These agencies all have different jurisdictions and different procedures and play by different rules. You throw them all together, and they are able to adapt to the best scenario for catching the bad guys. So if the rules for my organization don’t work for someone we’re chasing, we may look at someone else’s rules and so forth.
Q: What did you learn about the men and women who actually do this for a living?
A: I think they have to be in a certain state of mind to be able to detach themselves to just live day to day. If they absorbed everything they see and deal with, they would be carrying a lot of emotional baggage. I’m sure they can’t escape all that baggage, and that’s one of the things examined in the series. What they go through psychologically is pretty complex compared to the people who take their personal safety for granted.
Q: What does shooting on location in Los Angeles bring to the series?
A: There is really only one permanent set, which is the headquarters for the squad. We probably shoot there only about two days per episode. That’s enjoyable for me because we’re not locked away on a soundstage for seven days per episode. It’s harder and more complicated to have to move everything around every week, but I like that gypsy aspect of it. Most people may think of Los Angeles as just Hollywood, but that’s only a small sliver of this city. We’re covering all of the city and surrounding areas, like L.A. Harbor. We’re including everything, so we have a variety of looks.
