WalMart Widget Offers 101 'Staycation' Ideas

Retailer continues rollbacks on hot winter holiday items

With gas prices still climbing and airline costs still rising since last year, families may be skipping longer vacations in favor of "staycations" -- time off spent near home (1).

Wal-Mart mtoday announces the downloadable "101 Days of Staycations" widget featuring affordable, fun and family-friendly tips for celebrating the season at home. The widget is updated daily with Wal-Mart's easy-to-use tips for summer plans at a fraction of the cost of traveling.

Additionally, Wal-Mart announced it will help Americans make up for lost dollars at the gas pump as it continues to roll back prices on items that will help customers stretch their summer dollars even further.

Many rollbacks are based on anticipated changes in consumer behavior this summer, as one in three Americans say they plan to pare back their vacation or travel plans due to the rising cost of gas (2).
