"Sweet &
Savory" Wine & Food Pairing Event at Sonoita Vineyards on Saturday,
February 13th from 10am to 4pm. Celebrate Valentine's Day with eight
sweet and savory wine and food pairings with Sonoita Vineyards wines
accompanying each food created by Happy Cooker Catering, for a truly
luxurious treat. Only 65 ticket are being offered for this tasting
event. $20 per person, including a complimentary wine glass.
During
Sonoita Vineyard's events, lunches and wagon rides are also available
for an addition charge. Lunch may be purchased on-site from Steak Out
and Prairie Chicks Catering as well as wine-by-the glass. Horseback
rides (on site) and trail ride packages (reservations needed) are
available from Arizona Horseback Experience.
The
Sonoita Vineyard's winery is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,
except major holidays. The Sonoita Vineyards wine festivals are held
during those hours.
Directions to Sonoita Vineyards: Take Hwy 83 south from I-10. Sonoita Vineyards is located 3 miles south of Elgin at 290 Elgin-Canelo Road, Elgin, AZ.

Sonoita
Vineyards officially has the Arizona Department of Agriculture's
Arizona Grown label to be able to put on all of our wines! Sonoita
Vineyards has made 100% Arizona Wine from 100% Arizona Grapes for over
30 years and now they will be able to show it on all our products! They
will also be bottling very soon (once the bottles arrive) some new
wines: 2014 Cuvee Blanc, 2013 Zingiovese, Karma (A red Blend), and Angel
Wings just to name a few.
Now for the
long awaited Sonoita Vineyards Wine Club--Sonoita Sippers VIP--stay
tuned there will have 3 different levels 3 bottle, 6 bottle and 12
bottle shipment spring and winter. We will start signing club members up
at the 37th Annual Blessing of Sonoita Vineyards.
Now for the
upcoming events Saturday February 14 Sweet and Savory Wine and Food
Pairing. Saturday and Sunday April 18th and 19th will be at Kief Joshua
for the SE AZ Wine Festival.

SONOITA AMERICAN VITICULTURAL AREA 30TH ANNIVERSARY
Designating an
American Viticultural Area takes time; a wine region has to prove the
distinguishing features of an area and explain with specificity how
these features affect viticulture and how they are distinguished
viticulturally from all other areas around the proposed AVA.
These features include climate, geology, altitude, soils, and
physical features. The Sonoita Wine Country has proven itself through
its inclusion as one of the first AVA's in the USA and over time by
producing unique and lush wines. The Sonoita AVA was designated on
October 26th, 1984.
Situated at an altitude of 5,000 feet with boundaries set by
the Santa Rita, Huachuca and Whetstone mountain ranges, and Canelo Hills
the Sonoita AVA is set in the rolling grass- lands between the sky
islands of Southern Arizona.
With an average rainfall of over 20 inches and summer
temperatures hovering around the high 80's, the Sonoita AVA offers
exceptional conditions for producing award
Adding to its prestige, Sonoita AVA is, at prcsent, the only
federally recogruzed wine growing region in the state of Arizona.
Currendy home to the largest concentration of wineries and vineyards in
the state, the Sonoita-Elgin winegrowing region has been recognized as
one of the top ten wine trails in the country by USA Today..
