The Cash for Clunker Bill Stimulates Economy Before the Government Cuts the First Check

The governments Cash for Clunkers program (C.A.R.S.) began stimulating the economy a month before the first rebate check was cut to a consumer for a new vehicle. Manufacturers and dealers have spent millions to reach consumers who qualify for the $4500 government funded rebates. Big budgets have been activated to implement campaigns targeting clunker consumers who are eligible for the program and the early results suggest the returns will be worth the investment. 80% of Vehicles Need Service & Parts

Results of vehicle check-up events at community car care events across the country revealed that 80 percent of vehicles need service or parts, the Car Care Council reported today.

Internet Shopping for Used Vehicles Is Increasingly Effective

A majority of used-vehicle buyers who use the Internet to conduct vehicle research during the shopping process - more than six in 10 buyers - purchase a vehicle that they find online, according to the J.D. Power and Associates Used-Vehicle Market Report(SM).

The report provides a comprehensive industry overview of the entire late-model used-vehicle market and is designed to provide automotive manufacturers and marketers with insightful information on the shopping and purchasing habits of used-vehicle buyers.

The report finds that, among used-vehicle buyers who used the Internet while shopping for their vehicle in 2008, 61 percent found the vehicle they ultimately purchased on the Internet. According to the J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Used Autoshopper.com Study(SM), 48 percent of used-vehicle buyers in 2007 said the same. This marks a notable increase of 13 percentage points in 2008.

While the percentage of used-vehicle buyers who use the Internet to shop for their used vehicle has increased only marginally from 2007, buyers who shop online spend more time conducting online research in 2008 and visited more Web sites, compared with 2007.The amount of time that used-vehicle buyers spend researching vehicles online has increased by 18 percent, from an average of 7.3 hours in 2007 to 8.6 hours in 2008. Ford Motor Company Makes East Coast Debut of 2010 Ford Taurus and 2010 Lincoln MKT at 2009 Philadelphia International Auto Show

Ford Motor Company will make the East Coast debut of two of its newest vehicles at the 2009 Philadelphia International Auto Show.

On display will be the company's flagship sedan, the 2010 Ford Taurus with its upscale new design, impeccable driving dynamics, class-leading technologies and an unbeatable price tag.

Also debuting is the all-new three-row luxury crossover, 2010 Lincoln MKT that delivers the optimal blend of fuel economy, performance, technology and spaciousness. Consumers can also check out the 2010 Mustang, Transit Connect, and the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid and Mercury Milan Hybrid.

The new hybrid vehicles, scheduled to launch in the spring, are rated at 41 miles per gallon city -- making them the most fuel-efficient mid-size sedans available in the U.S.

Ford will also host an invitation-only Mustang Club Member event giving members a private preview of the 2010 Mustang, a complimentary breakfast, and free admission to the auto show with their Mustang Club Member card.
