2019 Ride Of Silence
Tuesday, May 14, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm MST
The 2019 Ride Of Silence (Powerful Tribute to Cyclists Killed On Our Public Roads) is held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Participants Check-in at 5pm. Leaders & Family Speakers at 5:30. Ride departs at 6pm at Reid Park, Ramada 19, (Accessed of Country Club) Tucson.
Cyclists; road, recreation, commuter, race, triathlon. All who legally share the road. Speakers before the ride will include local leaders & elected officials and victims/families traumatically affected by this growing epidemic. To mourn those cyclists already killed by motorists, to raise awareness (among motorists, police, and city officials) of cyclists on the road, and to have motorists know we all want to get home after each ride
The ride hopes to raise cycling awareness during bike safety month to motorists, police, traffic engineers, insurance companies, and city officials. The ride is also a chance to mourn, in funeral procession style, those who have already been killed.
We are looking for as many cyclists as possible to join in. Black arm bands will be disseminated and worn. Helmets are required; bright clothing and lights are highly recommended for the ride home. There are no fees charged anyone to participate. There will be free pizza while it lasts concluding the ride.
