The festival provides opportunities to explore nature through tours including sessions in photography, geology, history, botany, agriculture and the Sandhill Cranes and other birds of the area. Visitors can take tours and engage in seminars. Information on the seminars is available online, and guests are encouraged to pre-register. Willcox Community Center will be the hub for the tours and seminars, Nature Expo booths featuring commercial merchants, non-profit agencies, organizations, and educational displays.
Established in 1993, the mission of the Wings Over Willcox Birding & Nature Festival is to foster awareness of birds, wildlife and their habitats; to promote conservation and habitat development of the birds and wildlife of Southeastern Arizona; and to develop viable, nature-based tourism in Willcox and the surrounding areas.
