2nd Annual Step Show

Sunday, February 10, 2019 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm MST

“Our Blackness, Our Heritage” 2nd annual Step Show and Community Showcase

In honor of Black History Month, Team Keeping the Culture Alive (TKCA) under the auspices of the Barbea Williams Performing Company, Inc. (BWPC) is bringing you the 2nd annual “Our Blackness, Our Heritage” Community Showcase! Last year’s event brought out 400+ community members and this year the aim is to double attendance. Undeniably, Stepping has become a unique art form, which has sustained the test of time as we witness in schools, churches, along with cheerleading squads and drill teams across America.

To embrace Community, Collaboration and Culture Greek-lettered organizations affectionately known as ‘The Divine Nine’, (TUSD) Tucson Unified School District and local churches have committed to produce an electric program to highlight stepping through a theme U + ME = WE’RE in this together! Award-winning performer Barbea Williams and BWPC will infuse African and African fusion dances throughout the showcase to connect past and present communal messages that demonstrate the importance and power of cultural legacies.

This year’s showcase will mix hope with high-energy for the goal to generate a larger community impact. To demonstrate togetherness, we are accepting donations for TUSD African American Student Services for school supplies. Donations are being accepted on the Ticket Taylor site and at the door. To join in on this family-friendly event plan to come out to Cholla High School on Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 4:00-6:00PM.
