9th Annual Power of the Purse

9th annual Power of the Purse conference features an expert panel discussion highlighting “Women Influencing Business” and the Power of Social Media on March 3, 2:30 to 5 p.m., at the Desert Botanical Garden, 1201 N Galvin Pkwy, in Phoenix.
“This year’s conference theme highlights Latinas as powerhouses, driving economic growth for our families, communities and the state of Arizona,” notes Monica Villalobos, President and CEO of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. “From the halls of government to our state’s largest corporate board rooms, women are leading the way. The Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is delighted to host this annual gathering, celebrating and equipping the success of our women business owners.”
Latinas are now more than half of all Hispanic business owners in Arizona and their numbers are growing at a rapid rate nationwide, according to the 2019 DATOS: The State of Arizona’s Hispanic Market report. The state is now home to more than 65,000 Hispanic women entrepreneurs.
This year’s Power of the Purse event includes:
• Laser business coaching sessions for a limited number of women 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
• Registration, Mini-Expo, & Networking: 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
• Program 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• Mini-Expo, Networking, Cocktails & Appetizers: 4:30 p.m. -5:00 p.m.
A panel discussion will take place during the program on the topic of the Power of Social Media and Women Influencing Business and includes subject matter experts such as:
• Mary Rabago – President & CEO, Mary Rabago Productions
• Kathy Cano-Murillo – Lifestyle & DIY writer, author, speaker, Crafty Chica, LLC
• Catherine Alonzo – CEO & Founding Partner, Javelina
The event is presented by the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. The event’s premier sponsors are Freeport-McMoRan and the Desert Botanical Garden. The media sponsor for this year’s event is ASU.
Vanessa Ruiz will be our emcee for the event. She is an Emmy Award-winning Director and Professor of Practice of the Borderlands reporting team at Cronkite News, the news division of Arizona PBS.
