Hotel Congress Presents Agave Heritage Festival
Exploring and celebrating the cultural, commercial, and culinary significance of the agave across borders.
Tucson has catapulted over the past 12 years to the top destination for all things agave. This year’s Agave Heritage Festival showcases how versatile and paramount the agave plant is to the Sonoran desert and a sustainable future. From April 23rd to May 5th, the festival sprawls across all of Tucson with educational, culinary, and cultural celebrations.
Recognized as one of the world’s premier festivals, the Agave Heritage Festival attracts experts in the fields of regional food, spirits, agriculture, ethnobotany, and conservation. 2020 star participants include James Beard-nominated chef Maria Mazon of Boca Tacos, Roberto Contreras Jr., owner of Rancho Tepua Bacanora, Viva Mezcal film producer Pedro Jimenez, and Emmy Award-winning photographer Bill Hatcher, to name a few.

“The agave, in short, was meat, drink, clothing, and writing materials for the Aztec! Surely, never did Nature enclose in so compact a form so many of the elements of human comfort and civilization!”
