From Sweet-y to E.T., treats will abound for visitors to the 2015 Arizona State Fair when it opens Friday, October 16th and runs Wednesday through Sunday until November 8th. Fairgoers can satisfy their sweet tooth and find their inner Wonka at Sweet! – A Tasty Journey, presented by Sears Vacations. This colorful exhibit features interactive displays and activities that will be sure to stimulate all five senses.
Anyone curious about extraterrestrial delights can indulge in the all new Encounters: UFO Experience, the world’s first comprehensive exhibition exploring reports of U.F.O.s, alien abductions, and encounters with extraterrestrials. Another new goody this year, Something Ridiculous, is a high-energy juggling and acrobatic act performed by slapstick stunt men Mark Wilder and VonJon. Additional bliss can be found from returning favorite attractions, including The Great American Petting Zoo, Native Spirit Dancers, The Hangout, presented by Hensley Beverage Company, and Tyzen the Hypnotist, and the Backyard. Diversions galore will also be found in the barns with Kerr’s Farm Tours, Arizona Milk Producers’ Milking Parlor, and more than 2,500 animals on display, including rabbits, goats, cattle, poultry, sheep, llama, and pigeons. Arizona’s youth will compete and parade their accomplishments during Youth Week activities October 21-25 which culminate on Saturday, October 24 at 6 pm. with the Sale of Champions, an auction benefiting Arizona youth and their animals.
Melodic sweet sounds will be heard as musical stars descend for the 2015 Coliseum Concert Series during the Fair’s 18-day run. An amazing line-up representing a diversity of genres includes Sheryl Crow, Bret Michaels, Jane’s Addiction, Gary Allan, Jason Derulo, Jackson Browne, Meat Loaf, Rick Springfield and THIRD DAY. Additional acts include Flo Rida, Natalia Jimenez, Aaron Lewis with William Elliott Whitmore, Hanson with Nelson, Jack & Jack, and Old School Jam featuring Stevie B., Lisa Lisa, Debbie Deb, Nu Shooz, and J.J. FAD. General admission concert seating is FREE with Fair admission. Fairgoers can also purchase reserved tickets at https://azstatefair.com starting Saturday, September 12th at 10 am.
Familiar amusements of all kinds can be found such as thrilling rides, fabulous food, and entertaining interactive activities and demonstrations. Such delights include over 12,000 exhibits, Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Public Safety Days on October 24 and 25, Thunderbird Model Railroad Club Display, and Coco’s Pie Eating Contest on Saturdays. In addition, special Fair traditions include the 12th annual United States Armwrestling Championships on October 24; Copper Gloves Boxing, Senior Day, and Armed Forces Day, as well as dirt churning excitement in the Grandstand Arena. Scheduled events include Demolition Derby, Figure 8 Racing, Quarter Midget Racing, October Bash Fest Featuring SR1 and Democross, Grand Canyon State Promotions Presents Monster Trucks & FMX show, High School Rodeo, and All-Indian Rodeo.

A tradition in the state for 131 years, the Arizona State Fair consistently supplies a healthy dose of family entertainment, homespun creations, and attractions for all ages and interests. It continues to attract numerous Arizonans each year to its location at 19th Avenue and McDowell Road, including last year’s attendance of 1,147,182.
