Tucson’s professional ballet company embarks on an inspiring season of dance and launches a new way for patrons to connect with the art form.
Ballet Tucson’s 2022/2023 performance season is packed with exhilarating new works including a piece by the Oscar-nominated choreographer of Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, Justin Peck, and a world premiere by Chieko Imada featuring Internationally acclaimed musicians Duo Chinoiserie, in partnership with the Tucson Desert Song Festival. In December, Ballet Tucson begins its vibrant new partnership with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra for their treasured production of The Nutcracker. This thrilling partnership is sure to be the highlight of Tucson’s holiday season and is made possible by the James H. and Frances R. Allen Family Foundation in loving memory of Kimberlee Allen.
At the heart of Ballet Tucson’s mission for this season is the desire to connect more deeply with the community of Tucson. Artistic Director Margaret Mullin shares, “Over the last three years, we have learned the true importance of relationships. With the return of our talented company artists back to the stage, we have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of dance. Our dancers spark our belief in the extraordinary, allowing us to relish in this beautiful art form’s ability to foster inspiration, hope, imagination, and resilience.” The company is launching a new Membership Program that will provide unique opportunities for patrons to engage with the art form they love and get to know the passionate people behind the curtain and on the stage.
Ballet Tucson’s 2022/2023 season runs from October 7th, 2022 through March 26th, 2023.
Performing throughout the heart of historic downtown Tucson, the season opens with an exciting one-night-only concert of world premiere works created by the company’s own professional dancers at the Fox Tucson Theatre. In addition, Ballet Tucson will perform three unique concerts featuring ballets by renowned and award- winning choreographers at the Tucson Convention Center’s Leo Rich Theater. The company’s celebrated traditional production of The Nutcracker will be performed at the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall December 22-24, 2022, in partnership with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. A new VIP Experience will be available for ticket holders to purchase that includes a special keepsake gift and a chance to meet the Sugar Plum Fairy! Season subscriptions are now available; single ticket sales start on August 1st, 2022.
