The iconic guitarist is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Supernatural and the 50th anniversary of Abraxas
Ten time GRAMMY®-Award, three time Latin GRAMMY®-Award winning rock icon and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame guitarist Carlos Santana has announced he will hit the road across Europe this spring for the Miraculous 2020 World Tour. Making stops with his band in Italy, Germany, UK, Scandinavia, and more, they will perform passion-filled songs from their fifty year career, including fan favorites from Woodstock to Supernatural and beyond. The tour will commemorate two very important milestones in the iconic guitarist’s career: the 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking, multiple Grammy-winning album Supernatural and the 50th anniversary of his masterpiece Abraxas. Come find out why Santana has had a song in the Top 10 in every decade since the 1960’s.
While Santana will highlight songs from both his Supernatural and Woodstock eras on the Miraculous 2020 World Tour, he will also feature what he calls “the new hymns and songs of tomorrow.” The band (which also features Santana’s wife, Cindy Blackman Santana, on drums) will also perform energy-infused songs from Santana’s 2019 album Africa Speaks, produced by maverick hitmaker Rick Rubin. NPR called it Santana’s “best record in decades” and The New York Times said it “ranks with the fiercest albums in Santana’s 50-year career.”
“When you come to a Santana concert, the miraculous happens. Miraculous means, transforming darkness into delight. I feel like a 20-year-old on stage playing with this band, and they deliver high energy on every song. When we hit the stage, we know we will touch your heart and make you dance, sing, cry, laugh and leave your baggage behind. Our vision-mission is designed to elevate, transform and illumine consciousness to make you want to embrace your own light and allow for miracles and blessings to flow from your own heart.”
Delivered with a level of passion and soul equal to the legendary sonic charge of his guitar, the sound of Carlos Santana is one of the world’s best-known musical signatures. For more than five decades—from Santana’s earliest days as a groundbreaking Afro-Latin-blues-rock fusion outfit in San Francisco—Carlos has been the visionary force behind artistry that transcends musical genres and generational, cultural and geographical boundaries. Santana will continue headlining a multi-year residency at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, with 2019 dates in October and November and 2020 dates in January, February and May. About Carlos Santana:
Coming off the celebration of two epic milestones in 2019 – the 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking album Supernatural and the 50th anniversary of his legendary performance at Woodstock – Carlos Santana now looks to 2020 and the celebration of the 50th anniversary of his masterpiece Abraxas. To date, Santana has won 10 Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammys. He won a record-tying nine Grammys for a single project for 1999’s Supernatural (including Album of the Year and Record of the Year for “Smooth”) as well as three Latin Grammys. He has also received the Billboard Century Award (1996), was ushered into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1998), received the Billboard Latin Music Awards’ Lifetime Achievement honor (2009), and was the recipient of the Kennedy Center Honors Award (2013). Among many other honors, Carlos Santana has been cited by Rolling Stone as #15 on their list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time;” he has joined the Rolling Stones as one of only two bands to have an album reach the Top 10 in every decade since the 1960s. In 2018, he released his first MasterClass. In it he teaches the art, heart and soul of guitar, reaching deep into the spirituality and tonality of his playing to help students become more authentic and expressive artists. In January, Santana released the EP In Search of Mona Lisa (Concord Records), followed by this summer’s energy infused full-length album of new material Africa Speaks. NPR called it Santana’s “best record in decades”(NPR) and The New York Times said it “ranks with the fiercest albums in Santana’s 50-year career.” Santana is currently headlining a multi-year residency at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
