National Park Fee-Free Day
Saturday, September 28, 2019
Every year, on the fourth Saturday of September (this year on 9/28), the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation (NPF), the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service (NPS), celebrate National Public Lands Day – the largest, single-day volunteer event for public lands!
In addition to an abundance of volunteer opportunities such as trail restoration, invasive plants removal, and park cleanups – you can celebrate by heading to any of the more than 400 park across the country and getting in for free! Visiting a national park on fee free day is one of the many ways visitors can join the #FindYourPark/#EncuentraTuParque movement to explore, support and connect with parks across the country while inspiring others to do the same.
National parks can provide an escape from the daily stresses of life, including malfunctioning self-checkouts, assembling confusing furniture, trying to decipher parking signs, and crowded bus rides. You vs. everyday life isn’t always peaceful, but the parks are, and fee-free days provide a great opportunity to explore a new place (or visit an old favorite) and discover that peace yourself.
