Inaugural Song Summit to take place Sept. 7-10 in beautiful Park City, UT
Park City, UT – “Three of my favorite words are ‘I was there,’” says Park City Song Summit founder and proud Park City resident, Ben Anderson. Those three words—I was there—carry weight, especially as it pertains to the inaugural Park City Song Summit which takes place September 7-10 in, of course, Park City, UT.
Song Summit, a gathering of music fans centered on the ever-elusive and ever-powerful song, is programmed specifically to elicit “I was there” moments. The 2022 inaugural lineup boasts conversations and collaborations with today’s brightest culture bearers including those with shows announced today: Uwade, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, Tré Burt, John Craigie, Josh Ritter, and Fruit Bats (solo). These artists will perform at beloved Park City venue The Claimjumper throughout the weekend of Song Summit, this being the final venue announce before the event kicks off on Sept. 7. Tickets to The Claimjumper shows can be purchased here.
“This has been a dream of mine for many years and we are only a few short weeks away from go time,” continues founder and fellow musician Anderson. “Our team has worked tirelessly to bring something brand new to the music world that is fresh, impactful and very different from other events. Interesting panel discussions and live podcasts by day, and one-of-a-kind musical collaborations by our speakers by night, all within walking distance, in the transcendent setting of the mountains of Park City.”
What he’s referencing, of course, is the unique approach to programming that Song Summit is offering—of which Variety commented, “If you ever yearned to hear concerts by your favorite artists one night and listen to their TED talks the next, then Park City Song Summit may be your kind of music festival.”
Part conversation, part all-out rock shows, Song Summit is taking the traditional festival model and turning it on its head, prioritizing intimate discussions and unique artist collaborations over mediocre-for-the-masses.
Additionally, daily schedules for the Song Summit are now on the website, fans are encouraged to start building their schedules now.
Lineup: The aforementioned artists plus Warren Haynes, Fred Armisen, Jason Isbell, Celisse, Jeremy Ivey, Father John Misty (solo), Bonny Light Horseman, Rising Appalachia, Anders Osborne & Friends, Keller Williams’ Grateful Gospel, Adia Victoria, Margo Price, Daniel Donato and more. What is a “Lab”? Lab topics include “Comedy For Musicians, But Everyone Is Welcome” in which Fred Armisen talks music, comedy, and timing with anyone who’ll listen, “Have You Been To Electric Lady (Land)?” where CBS’s Anthony Mason sits down with Lee Foster, co-owner and general manager of Jimi Hendrix’s historic Electric Lady Studios in New York City, “Her Country” where award-winning journalist Marissa R. Moss and Nashville singer-songwriter Katie Pruitt discuss how the women of country music became the success they were never supposed to be, and more.

About Park City Song Summit: Park City Song Summit is the brainchild of Ben Anderson, Park City resident and lifetime musician/founding member of the jam band Aiko. He started the Song Summit to celebrate his passion for music as well as his personal mission to bring clarity and normalcy to the struggles musicians, artists, and music lovers alike face around mental health and dependency. “The Song Summit was created as an immersive hangout for song lovers here in the beautiful mountains of Park City, Utah; a chance to explore and celebrate the myth, inspiration, passion, and power of song with a group of musicians, creatives, songwriters, thought leaders, and industry pioneers,” says Anderson. “Creating and providing funding to grow Park City Song Summit was in part my love for song but to an even larger degree, to provide awareness and resources for those who may also be challenged by trauma, addiction, and mental health issues. Our Labs are meant to be a safe space for artists and audiences alike to be inspired by others who have faced these challenges and to explore the ever-relevant issues of inclusivity, opportunity, and equality.” A few of the community charitable partners that Song Summit is supporting include members in the Park City Community Foundation’s Mental Wellness Alliance.
