Blood donations decline by up to 25% during the Memorial Day holiday week, but heavy traffic on the roads and highways increases the potential for accidents and the need for blood. That’s why Pizza Hut has partnered with Vitalant to ramp up efforts for blood donations during the holiday week. Donate blood on June 3 in Tucson and receive a voucher for the Pizza Hut Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookie – a freshly-baked cookie cut into 8 slices and served warm! Donors who give blood by June 2 will also be thanked with Vitalant’s summer T-shirt, size redeemable by email. Going into the Memorial Day holiday week, healthy blood donors are critically needed to ensure blood is available for patients – especially type O.
For a limited time, all blood donations are being tested for COVID-19 antibodies.

Blood donors help people like Hayley, who thanks to 95 blood donors, will celebrate her 22nd birthday during the holiday week on May 31. She was born with Diamond Blackfan Anemia, a rare disease that prevented her body from producing red blood cells. She relied on the kindness of strangers to provide lifesaving blood transfusions every month until she was able to receive a bone marrow transplant. “Blood donors allowed our daughter to play, jump and laugh like other children – and gave her the chance to grow up,” said her mom, Melana. “They are true heroes.”
