SAACA Updates and Cancellations

Saturday, March 14, 2020 @ 8:00 am - Tuesday, March 31, 2020 @ 5:00 pm MST

The Southern Arizona Arts & Cultural Alliance (SAACA) is currently keeping up to date with the developments surrounding the emergence of COVID-19. We are communicating and coordinating with our members, other non-profits, partners, and local municipalities to ensure we are guided by evidence-based recommendations provided by the Pima County Health Department, Arizona Department of Health Services, and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).

We understand that you may be contemplating whether to attend arts events, performances and community activities at this time. The health and safety of artists, audiences, staff and volunteers is our top priority, and we are carefully reviewing updates to determine our course of action during this time. As many of you know, SAACA has one of the most robust and diverse calendars of annual events and programs in the state, including weekly concerts, festivals, celebrations, classes and programs all running simultaneously. We wanted to give you an update on how COVID-19 is impacting SAACA’s current programs and festivals, as well as our hopes for the future.

As an organization that is committed to strengthening the bonds between people, place and purpose through collaborative, arts-driven experiences, we know that our work will be needed more than ever into the future. We are up to the challenge and know that you are too. We will rebound from this moment in history together, stronger than ever. We believe that Southern Arizona is one of the most inspiring and culturally diverse artistic communities in the country, and we know that we will come together with our partners and collaborate to find solutions for what comes next.

SAACA’s programs and events have deep impact in our artist and creative communities, and we understand the gravity of the situation. When we cancel an event, we cut back on an opportunity for an artist to earn a living and promote their work in the community. We do not take any of these decisions lightly.

We would like to assure our community that we are committed to the safety of all who attend SAACA events and festivals and are taking the appropriate measures to help ensure that participants will experience a safe and healthy environment.

In light of the more recent developments in the last 36 hours, we would like to provide you with our community updates as of today on event cancellations and schedules.
