Sea of Glass: Leather Tramp

Saturday, September 2, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 11:00 pm MST

On Saturday, September 2nd the Sea Of Glass—Center For The Arts presents Leather Tramp, a 10-piece eclectic ensemble where folk band meets symphony! Leather Tramp is a folkestra combining acoustic-fueled indie rock with the anthemic elements of an orchestra. Based in Long Beach, the members of Leather Tramp bring an infectiously raw and expressive energy to the stage. When songwriter Jake Abernathie and drummer Flint Lidar first met in 2009, their love of music formed a strong kinship and they began to search for orchestral members in Southern California until Leather Tramp was formed.

A completely independent, DIY band, Leather Tramp is comprised mostly of music students and alumni of Calfiornia State University in Long Beach. They recorded and engineered their debut EP in 2015 completely independently and their videos are produced by students from the CSULB film department. Their influences include Blind Pilot, Fanfarlo, Stars, Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver, Andrew Bird, Avett Brothers, Beirut, Nathan Johnson & the Cinematic Underground, Arcade Fire, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and Of Monsters and Men.

Don’t miss this impressively talented and creatively motivated ensemble with a musical mission!
