VHS COLLECTION Announce US Summer Tour Dates

July 7, 2022 @ 8:00 pm - July 29, 2022 @ 8:00 pm MST

Today NYC’s indie-rock trio VHS Collection announce the news of their highly anticipated summer tour. Following the release of their album Night Drive (Tiger Tone / [PIAS]), which garnered acclaim from the masses, the trio are set to kick off their US tour this July, playing iconic venues like Brooklyn Steel and El Rey Theatre.

VHS Collection are known for their distinct sound that marries ambient synths, alt-pop, and indie-rock and their live performance is an insane addition to the mix. Intoxicating light shows and graphics bring their cruising, top-down album full of soaring anthems and back-seat bangers to riveting heights.

Night Drive captures the spirit of that titular activity: its liminality, its kinetic excitement, its intoxicating potential and power, its hope and mystery. Each of the record’s 10 tracks does this in their own way—sometimes loud and brash, sometimes quiet and calm.

But the feeling is just as visceral and real, as serious and limitless as four tires streaking across concrete under the hum of streetlights. In a time of perpetual uncertainty and disconnection, Night Drive is a return to one of the simple, critical pieces of our lived experience via driving drums, stratospheric synths, soaring vocals, and anthemic choruses built to sprint through the night sky.

US Tour Dates

7/22 – Los Angeles, CA – El Rey Theater
7/23 – San Francsico, CA – August Hall
7/25 – Chicago, IL – Bottom Lounge
7/27 – Boston, MA – The Sinclair
7/28 – Brooklyn, NY – Brooklyn Steel

More on VHS Collection
The three friends at the heart of VHS Collection—James Bohannon, Conor Cook, and Nils Vanderlip—grew up together in New York City and formed the band in 2015, merging modern and retro aesthetics to create their now-signature heart-pumping, arena-ready synth rock and alt-pop. Since their inception, they’ve released certified hits “Waiting For The Summer” and “So I Met Someone” that have racked up over one hundred million streams and earned the band spots at festivals including Governor’s Ball, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limitsand praise from notable tastemakers including Billboard, Stereogum, and American Songwriter to name a few. Their latest single “The Deep End” continues to rise on speciality radio charts, currently peaking at #14 on SubModern’s Top 200.

The band partnered with Tiger Tone Records and producer Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck) to create Night Drive, working in person in Los Angeles through the turbulence of the pandemic. The process included quarantines, testing, and fully-masked sessions, but it was imperative to avoid the alternative: working remotely erased the cohesiveness and energy of the in-studio work that colors the record. Those characteristics gave way to the darkened, atmospheric gravity of Night Drive, rippling and pulsing with MS20 and JUNO60 synths. “The Deep End” is a sublime follow-up to “The Dark,” which proved to be an incredible introduction to the upcoming album.
