Jesse Colin Young Launches “Tripping On My Roots” Podcast with Episodes on Blind Willie and Little Richard

The legendary singer-songwriter was recently featured in Rolling Stone Magazine’s “In My Room” Series

Legendary singer-songwriter Jesse Colin Young – who first made history with the Youngbloods on their classic ‘60s peace anthem “Get Together” – is launching a new video and audio podcast titled Tripping On My Roots.
Featuring interviews, musical performances, rare collaborations, and plenty of storytelling, Tripping On My Roots is equal parts documentary, autobiography, and a first-hand look not only into the creative influences of a folk icon, but into an entire country’s musical history, too.
The first two episodes will debut on Monday, May 11, and will focus on the life of Blind Willie (Episode 1) and Little Richard (Episode 2) who sadly passed away on May 9.
“It started as an idea in our kitchen. My wife, Connie, and I thought, ‘What if we were to pay homage to those who came before, those who were such an influence to me and my peers?’,” recalled Young. “We decided that this was to be an audio and video podcast so we could bring you along on a journey to unknown places and new experiences. There is jamming with old friends and new. We share how it is to be musicians, now, in this place and time, while reflecting back on those who inspired us to take a chance with music.”

On May 10, Jesse Colin Young was featured in Rolling Stone’s “In My Room” video series performing three live songs, including “Light Shine”, “Walk The Talk”, and The Youngblood’s hit song “Get Together”. Young is bringing new light to the iconic peace anthem on its 50th Anniversary, calling on everyone to share a video of themselves singing and playing the song’s chorus in the key of G on social media. Participants are encouraged to challenge their friends to create videos, and are asked to use the hashtag #GetTogetherAgain and tag @JesseColinYoung in their posts.
“‘Get Together’ was an anthem in a time of conflict and social change, much like the world we live in today,” said Young. “Let’s come together and answer this current hatred and violence with one voice.”
In 2019, Jesse Colin Young released his 19th solo album Dreamers through BMG. The stunning new record has garnered attention from some of the top music outlets, including NPR, Guitar World, No Depression, SiriusXM, ABC News Radio, Best Classic Bands, and countless radio stations across the United States. Dreamers is available on all streaming services, as well as on CD and vinyl.
