Joan as Police Woman Shares “Tell Me” Video On Brooklyn Vegan
Damned Devotion LP Out February 9th on Play It Again Sam

Playing Rough Trade NYC on Feb 26th

Joan As Police Woman today reveals the video for ‘Tell Me’, the second single to be taken from her new album Damned Devotion, which is due for release on 9 February via Play It Again Sam.

Speaking about the video, Joan says: “The director, Brian Crano, and I became friends when I scored his upcoming feature Permission (released the same day as my album Damned Devotion). I asked him if he could suggest someone to shoot my video and within 5 minutes he had written me back an entire storyline himself. He used the fact that I enjoy creating personas as the basis for the video. I play a variety of characters; a glam queen, a chef who consumes her own heart, a (self-)interrogator, photographer, etc. Let’s just say at one point I wield a unicorn piñata glitter canon… Tell me tell me tell me what (else) do you want? Hope you enjoy!!”

‘Tell Me’ follows Damned Devotion’s first single ‘Warning Bell’, which was playlisted by 6Music and described by the Observer as: “plush and dangerous as a snow drift.”

Already acknowledged as a thrilling live performer and starkly honest lyricist, Damned Devotion, finds Joan Wasser at her rawest. “My maxim is: if it feels scary to say it, it’s the thing you must say”. And on Damned Devotion the thoughtful lyricism is married to her most accessible music to date.

Famously a collaborator and muse to artists as diverse as Anohni, Rufus Wainwright, Lou Reed and Beck, since the release of her last album Joan has worked alongside fashion designers Viktor & Rolf as well as a growing list of musicians including Sufjan Stevens, Lau, RZA and most recently Daniel Johnston. “I say yes to almost everything,” she admits. “I just want to be making music all the time. I can comfortably say that music has saved my life and continues to save my life. I am a devotee. It’s not something I can even choose or not choose, it’s just what is.”

Following the release of Damned Devotion Joan As Police Woman will take her captivating live show on the road reaching the UK in April 2018, including a prestigious show at London’s Royal Festival Hall. Tickets are on sale now.
