This year's fireworks restrictions

There may be fireworks restrictions throughout Arizona due to dry conditions. This may change in some areas with anticipated storms.

The summer monsoon might make its traditional attempt to disrupt local fireworks shows on July 4th. Tucson summer rains often start to form over the mountains in the early afternoon and rain may start in the valley around 5:00pm. Check the weather for the Fourth of July.

In Pima County, there is a ban is on the use of permissible consumer fireworks. The City of Tucson has a similar ban.

The county and city cannot ban the sale of fireworks to the public. They only regulate their use. The law does not affect commercial fireworks shows with approvals.

Violating the ban can be a Class 3 misdemeanor offense in Pima County. The ban may last through July until after the summer monsoon rains.

In conjunction with the ban on the use of personal fireworks, there are fire restrictions throughout the state parks and forests, including the Coronado National Forest.
