Entertainment Magazine: Home Improvement: Home Improvement: Articles Home Remodeling Tips #2By Sarah Jane Udall Whether you are remodeling your home, or just want to replace old fixtures and add value to your home, it is always wise to have a good idea of what your options are so that you can get the highest quality and the best results from your home improvement projects. A thorough evaluation of your home will give you a good sense of what work and improvements are needed to maintain or increase value of your home, and is also a good way to not only find items that need repair or replacement, but also to become aware of any upcoming maintenance or project expenses. If you know you want to update or remodel your home, but are unsure where to begin, a great place to start is the exterior of your home as the outside appearance of a house is always the first thing to make an impression. A good paint job on the exterior of your home can change the whole look of it, and add immediate value to your home. Another way to add value to your home by updating its exterior is to have a well-planned and well-maintained landscape, and to update and replace any other exterior surfaces such as doors, windowpanes and the roof. Once you are satisfied with the exterior of your home, then you can move on to interior spaces such as kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms or basement and attic spaces. Just by replacing the front of your cabinets, putting in new wallpaper, or changing the color of paint can create a whole new look for your home, as well as increase the value of it. One of the best ways to add value to your home is to update the mechanicals of your home. This may include rewiring electrical circuits, updating plumbing systems, installing heating and cooling systems or putting in home security systems. Replacing mechanical systems can be one of the most expensive aspects of home improvement, but is in the long run most worth the investment, and should be factored into home improvement plans as it can increase the safety, efficiency and value of your home.
