Johnny Delaware Releases “Million Dollar Hit” Today – New Tour Dates

Johnny Delaware released his new single, “Million Dollar Hit” today via Normaltown/New West Records. The song is the first new music from the SUSTO Co-Founder since the release of his solo album, Para Llevar, late last year. Para Llevar (which translates to “to go” or “to take”) garnered critical praise from Under the Radar, Magnet Magazine, Holler, The Big Takeover, Glide Magazine, and more. Recorded in studios across Latin American and the United States, the album found Delaware drawing inspiration from his years of journeying, both physically and introspectively, blending elements of Laurel Canyon and Latin America with dreamy, psychedelic production. Self-producing the album and playing nearly all of the instruments, Para Llevar is an intoxicating meditation on the hope, fear, love, and loneliness that bind us all, no matter where we call home.

Of the new “Million Dollar Hit,” Johnny Delaware says, “This song came from the shower. I remember hearing the chords in my head, probably got distracted and shampooed my hair twice. But I got out excited to work in my little studio in Mexico City. The production came first and I didn’t have a title or lyrics when I closed the session, so I named it ‘Million Dollar Hit.’ I didn’t expect to ever keep the name, but I found a way to make it work in the lyrics without it actually being hubris about the song’s potential — though I wouldn’t complain if it materializes that way!”

Johnny Delaware recently announced new tour dates as well. Launching July 27 in Dolores, CO, the trek will feature stops at the Sioux River Folk Fest, the Raccoon Motel in Davenport, IA, as well as multiple dates with the band he co-founded, SUSTO.
