The Thirteenth Annual COACHES FOR CHARITY Kickoff Classic is the official start of high school football season highlighting four teams in a two-game event. Copper Canyon travels to Cholla High School on Thursday, August 24, 2023, and Willow Canyon will play Desert View on Friday, August 25, 2023. Both games start at 7:00 P.M. Former University of Arizona football player and NFL veteran Glenn Parker will address both teams in a field huddle prior to each game. One representative from each school will be recognized as a “Signature Coach” for his/her service to student athletes. Coaches for Charity is a 501(c) 3 charity. The purpose of the COACHES FOR CHARITY Kickoff Classic is to celebrate school spirit, focus on teamwork, healthy competition, and to raise scholarship funds for students-athletes.
Glenn Parker is a former University of Arizona football standout All-American where he was an offensive lineman. He was drafted in the third round 1990 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. He played in for the Bills until 1997 and played in their four Super Bowls 1990-1993. He also played three years with the Kansas City Chiefs and for the New York Giants playing in their 2001 Super Bowl appearance. Since his playing days, Parker has enjoyed a professional broadcasting career including NFL Network’s Playbook, CBS College Sports Network, the AFL on NBC, Fox Sports, NFL Europa, Pack 12 Network and Arizona Cardinals games. Since January 2022, he is the Director of Outreach and Engagement at the University of Arizona Foundation.
