Chiles, Chocolate, & Day of the Dead Festival
Chiles, Chocolate, & Day of the Dead Festival Returns to Tohono Chul This Weekend. After a four-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the highly anticipated Chiles, Chocolate, & Day of the Dead Festival is set to make its triumphant return to Tohono Chul Park this weekend. The festival will take place on Friday, October 27, and Saturday, October 28, running from 9 am to 4 pm each day. This two-day celebration aims to immerse visitors in the rich flavors, vibrant culture, and enduring traditions of Fall in the Southwest.
Visitors can look forward to live musical performances by local talents such as Arizona Folklorico Dance Co., Davis Bilingual Mariachi, Las Azaleas, Dos Sueños, and others. Food enthusiasts can enjoy an array of spicy and sweet offerings from local vendors, including Monsoon Chocolate, Carolina’s Chocolate, Mano Y Metate spices, The Roasted Chile, Tucson Tamale Co., and more. In addition to indulging your taste buds, you’ll have the opportunity to explore and shop for handmade goods and gifts created by local artisans, such as Día de los Muertos figurines by Olytata and handmade headwear and jewelry from Nita Bead. There will also be a selection of chili pepper plants for sale in the plant nursery.
The festival is designed to be an inclusive experience for all ages and offers a diverse range of family-friendly activities, crafts, and complimentary Día de los Muertos face painting. Tohono Chul is proud to feature the Tohono Chul Altar Project, which showcases meticulously crafted Altars of Remembrance in honor of Día de los Muertos designed by regional artists and students from Safford K-8 School, Orange Grove Middle School, and Tucson High School.
Tickets for the festival are available now through Tohono Chul’s website with prices starting at just $5 for members and $35 for a family ticket bundle. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased at the entrance upon arrival or at the admissions window. The Chiles, Chocolate, & Day of the Dead Festival is a unique, not-to-be-missed experience!
