Natural History: Geology, Flora & Fauna of Desert Foothills

The Cave Creek Museum has created a new desert exhibit entitled Natural History: Geology, Flora & Fauna of Desert Foothills. The exhibit features spiders, insects, venomous creatures, animal skulls, desert plants, rocks and photos of the animals that grace the Arizona foothills. And, according to Evelyn Johnson, executive director for the museum, there are hands- on items for children to touch and learn.

“We also have a night sky and activity center so children to color pages and display their work on the wall,” says Johnson.

The 53-year-old museum’s mission is to preserve the artifacts of the prehistory, history, culture and legacy of the Cave Creek Mining District and the Cave Creek/Carefree foothills area through education, research and interpretive exhibits.
