Distance Major Captures Emotion and Melody in Motion on New Single

New Jersey based composer and producer Distance Major returns with “With You,” a standout track from his self titled debut album that embodies the heart of his instrumental storytelling. Blending elements of synth driven rock, modern jazz, and ambient electronica, “With You” offers a cinematic journey through emotion and movement, a song that feels as visual as it sounds.

Built on a traditional pop structure yet entirely lyric free, “With You” showcases Distance Major’s ability to translate melody into feeling. With its catchy synth motifs, flowing dynamics, and lush textures, the track demonstrates how simplicity can be both powerful and deeply expressive. “This song was based on the traditional structure of a pop song,” Distance Major shares. “I really wanted a catchy melody in both the verse and chorus, so how can you do that without lyrics? I tried this one and really enjoyed the final version. Sometimes you need to keep things simple, which is what I did for this track.”

While “With You” currently stands as an instrumental composition, it hints at what’s to come, as Distance Major has written lyrics for the piece that he plans to incorporate in a future vocal version. The result is a song that feels complete in its current state yet open-ended in its evolution, reflecting the artist’s improvisational process and forward thinking creativity.

The track captures the sonic identity that defines Distance Major, a seamless fusion of cerebral sound design and emotional resonance. Crafted entirely by composer Michael Keane, who composed, performed, mixed, and mastered the record himself, “With You” is another step in his exploration of melody, motion, and the art of storytelling through sound.
