The American Australian Association and G’Day USA are proud to announce their 2024 annual G’Day USA Arts Gala to be held on February 1, 2024, in Los Angeles, honoring Australian and American collaborations, innovations, and talent. For the past 21 years, the G’Day USA program has fostered deeper ties between the United States and Australia and promoted Australian achievement, creativity and talent, with the support of the Australian government.
Acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, recording artist, and previous G’Day performer, G Flip will host the 2024 G’Day USA Arts Gala with a blend of sophistication and Aussie flair. Their debut album has three certified ARIA Platinum singles, and they are the recipient of Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year from the Independent Australian Record Labels Association. Their second studio album Drummer was released on Aug. 11, 2023, and was nominated for multiple ARIA Music Awards, and won Australian Album of the Year at the 2023 J Awards.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the world of music and entertainment, G’Day USA is proud to honor the multi-platinum recording artist, actress and bestselling author Delta Goodrem with the Excellence in the Arts Award. A true Australian icon, Goodrem has been featured in many G’Day USA events, most notably performing an emotional tribute to the late Olivia Newton-John at the 2023 Gala, and debuting “Let it Rain” at the 2020 Gala in response to the devastating bushfires. Goodrem has achieved multi-platinum selling status including nine #1 singles, five #1 albums, 17 top 10 hits, 12 ARIA Awards, a Silver Logie Award, and three World Music Awards.
Goodrem’s honor will be presented by Grammy Award-winning artist and former Destiny’s Child member, Kelly Rowland. A judge on The Voice Australiaalongside Goodrem, Rowland is one of the best-selling musical artists of all time, having sold over 40 million records as a solo artist, and a further estimated 60 million records with Destiny’s Child.
Australian actress Samara Weaving will be presented with the Rising Star Award. Weaving began her career on the beloved Aussie soap Home and Away and is receiving this award in recognition of her breakthrough performances in celebrated works including Nine Perfect Strangers, Babylon, and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri – for which Weaving was included in the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
Our third honoree is globally celebrated producer and director Craig Gillespie,who will receive the Excellence in Film & Television Award. Gillespie’s credits include Lars and the Real Girl, with Ryan Gosling, I, Tonya, with Margot Robbie, Cruella, with Emma Stone and Dumb Money, with Seth Rogen. His TV credits include the series The United States of Tara, with Toni Collette, and Pam & Tommy, with Lily James and Sebastian Stan. Gillespie was nominated three times (and won once) by the Directors Guild of America for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials and two of his commercials are included in the Museum of Modern Art permanent collection.
Presenting the award to Gillespie is Golden Globe-nominated actor Sebastian Stan. In addition to working with Gillespie in I, Tonya, Dumb Money and Pam & Tommy, Stan is a MCU favorite, having appeared as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in Captain America and Avengers movies as well as the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Recently Stan starred alongside Julianne Moore in the thriller Sharper and will play a young Donald Trump in the upcoming The Apprentice.
The evening will also feature performances by country singer Morgan Evans,singer/songwriter, Kita Alexander and R&B artist Mi-kaisha. Evans is the recipient of a CMA Award, six CMC Awards, three Country Music Awards of Australia, four APRA Awards, and an ARIA Award. Alexander is a rising Australian pop singer and songwriter, who pop culture website, ‘Junkee’, has applauded for her “short evocative lines demonstrating Taylor Swift-level lyrical prowess.” Mi-kaisha is an Australian-born, New York-based vocalist, songwriter and producer of music that effortlessly spans R&B, soul and pop.
Australia’s former Prime Minister and current Ambassador to the United States, His Excellency the Honorable Dr. Kevin Rudd AC will speak on the deep and lasting ties between the US and Australia.
For 21 years, the highly anticipated G’Day USA Arts Gala has honored prominent Australians from film, television, music, sports, and business for their contributions to the US-Australia relationship.
