Esther Rose New Song & Tour

December 5, 2025 - March 14, 2027

Esther Rose released the new songs “That’s My DJ” and “Heather” today via New West Records. The two songs follow her 2025 album Want, which found Rose leaning toward confrontational arrangements full of distortion and full-band spontaneity. Met with critical acclaim, MOJO said in their 4 Star review, “Caution be damned — Want merits unreserved attention,” while No Depression said “Rose’s confidence as a writer and performer has been steadily growing, and it is some kind of miracle to see her stepping so fully into the light where she belongs.” Paste said, “Want is wild and wise—a career-best pocket of miracles,” while Brooklyn Vegan exclaimed, “…she made her loudest, boldest, most confident, and best album yet.”

“That’s My DJ” & “Heather” were recorded during the Want studio sessions and premiered today, alongside a feature with Rose, via Paste Magazine. About “That’s My DJ,” Rose said “When I moved to Santa Fe, I had a bit of culture shock: dancing to techno into the sunrise is a way of life for my guy and his community. So as a 35-year-old songwriter, I became a raver. Ever the good student, I really applied myself. I found out what it isn’t about: appearance, getting wasted, or glowing lights. What it is about: ego-dissolution, joy. ‘That’s My DJ’ is a character study of Santa Fe. Being welcomed into this rave scene, both on and off the dance floor, has taught me the art of living.” “Heather” is another Santa Fe-inspired song about a bartender at the El Rey Court, a 100+ year old motor inn with a mezcal bar, and features Gina Leslie and members of The Deslondes. About its writing, Rose said “Around this time I got into Tyler Childers’ Country Squire. Impressed by the songwriting, I wanted to up my game. At one point, Christian Lee Hutson gifted me an alternate chord progression for the second verse, which really opened up the tune. In the studio, we aimed for a stripped-down, campfire approach.”

On December 5, Rose will launch a co-headline solo tour with Dean Johnson in Austin, TX. A full band headline tour has also been announced, launching March 1 in San Francisco, and features an appearance at the Green River Festival alongside Geese, Wednesday, Ratboys, Swamp Dogg, Charley Crockett, Spoon, and more.
