Gianmarco Soresi is a New York based stand-up comedian, actor, and creator known for his sharp societal observation and spry, energetic stage presence. Gianmarco Soresi’s “The Leaning In Tour” has spanned over 75 shows booked in more than 24 cities across the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia, including Los Angeles sold-out shows, Chicago, DC, and Pittsburgh. More than half the shows on his European tour sold out. In addition, Soresi continues his celebrated recurring show in NYC, The Silver Lining, and live podcast recordings of The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi with co-host Russell Daniels and special guests. Gianmarco also has a set on Netflix’s Verified Stand-Up, which premiered globally on November 28, 2023.
Gianmarco effortlessly commands a room with his animated style, blending upbeat candor with dark comedic beats — which has garnered him critical acclaim from NPR, Esquire, The Atlantic, Buzzfeed, ABC News, and many more. He’s performed stand-up on The Late Late Show with James Corden, Comedy Central, Don’t Tell Comedy, The Real Housewives of New York, and was selected as a JFL New Face in 2022. “The Leaning In Tour,” titled after his signature “Soresi Lean” stance, is announced on the heels of a resoundingly successful year at Just For Laughs Montreal for Soresi where he performed 10 ‘Just For The Culture’ shows with Judy Gold, Alonzo Bodden, Zarna Garg and Joyelle Nicole Johnson, two sold-out headlining shows and a live taping of his podcast, The Downside with Gianmarco Soresi featuring guest Joel Kim Booster. In 2022, Soresi turned heads with his set at the JFL New Faces showcase, and last year saw him return with increasingly prominent bookings in some of the most renowned theaters in Montreal.
The Silver Lining shows have been gaining popularity and selling out regularly. Soresi uses these recurring NYC shows to explore new topics and as he says, “try wording some riskier jokes that will one day get me fired from something that actually pays money, and to talk to the audience about stuff more interesting than what they do for work like, ‘how did your parents tell you about the divorce?’” He also gets to book two of his favorite comics each show to come in and in his words, “save the evening when my crowd work fails spectacularly.”
Elaborating on the title of the tour, Soresi explains, “not everyone can tell from my social media clips, but I’m 6 ‘4” so I often feel the need to lean down to connect with a particular audience member (or just to stretch out my lower back honestly). Someone on YouTube dubbed this the “Soresi Lean” while another commented the way I bend my knee proves that I’m a homosexual. I corrected him that I’m technically Pliéing my knee.”
