Kiwanis Preschool Pioneers presents “Wonkey Donkey” and “Pedro’s Pan” at Cave Creek Museum

Cave Creek, Arizona – On Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 10-11 AM, Cave Creek Museum (CCM)/Kiwanis Preschool Pioneers will present two books: “Wonkey Donkey” and “Pedro’s Pan” at the museum.

Wonkey Donkey is a young children’s beloved favorite. In Pedro’s Pan, Pedro and Pan – one in red plaid and suspenders, the other round and shiny with a mobile smile and eyes – explore together, braving wild animals, harsh weather, and hard work before striking gold. Children will see and pet a donkey as well as gold pan with the help of their parent or caregiver. Children even will make their own pan. Kiwanis Family Fun Days are made possibly by the financial support of the Kiwanis Club of Carefree.

Kiwanis Preschool Pioneers is a program for children and accompanying adult who will lead their little one(s) assisted by museum volunteers. Age-appropriate books set the stage for follow-up activities that include movement and music, trying a craft process, like grinding corn, exploring museum artifacts or acting out part of the story. The 55-year-old museum’s mission is to preserve the artifacts of the prehistory, history, culture and legacy of the Cave Creek Mining District and the Cave Creek/Carefree foothills area through education, research, and interpretive exhibits.
