SLALOM, Charlene Favier’s debut Cannes-selected French #MeToo drama set in the world of elite skiing.
The film includes the powerful feature debut film for actress Noée Abita (who did NO rehearsals with the director before shooting), as well as Belgian actor Jérémie Renier, known for his past Dardenne brothers films.
The film is an intimate look at a teen and her coach and how she has to endure the physical and emotional pressure of elite training and figure out how to escape the mental and physical grip of power and abuse from a predatory coach. The director was a former younger competitive skier as well.
It will be playing for Tucson audiences starting April 9 with The Loft Cinema’s virtual screening room.
