The Sunday Night Slow Jams® 30th Anniversary Party Hosted by R Dub!, featuring 112 and Hi-Five, is coming to the Diamond Center on Friday, June 21, 2024. Tickets start at $40 and go on sale Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. through Etix and the casino box office. Party starts at 6:30 p.m.; show starts at 8 p.m.

Anyone exhibiting COVID-19 or flu-like symptoms, or with recent exposure to a person with COVID-19, is asked to stay home.

Born in Chicago and growing up in L.A. and Orlando, Florida, R Dub! spent his time listening to various late night “Slow Jams®” type radio shows around the country. At age 15, after moving to Tucson, Arizona with his family, R Dub! got his first chance in radio, volunteering at the local public radio station. By the time R Dub! was a junior in high school, he was the full-time Slow Jams® show host at the local hip-hop station, where Sunday Nite Slow Jams® was born in 1994. As the years went by, and radio stations came and went, R Dub! managed to keep the Sunday Nite Slow Jams® alive, taking them with him wherever he went.

HI-FIVE is an R&B/Pop group who released their first, self-titled album in 1990. The album went platinum; it included hit singles “I Just Can’t Handle It” (R&B #10), “I Can’t Wait Another Minute” (Pop #8, R&B #1), and their biggest hit to date, “I Like the Way (The Kissing Game)”, which went to #1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the U.S. Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. The group was aggressively marketed by Jive records and was part of the “New Jack Swing” sound that dominated much of the early to mid-1990s urban contemporary radio format. In 2014 Hi-five released “Hi-Five The EP,” featuring songs “Kit Kat” and “Different Kiss.”

Founded by group member Michael Keith and groomed by Sean “Puffy” Combs, the Atlanta based group 112 had a meteoric rise that solidified them as the hottest R&B group of their time. Their debut, album “112” (1996) went double Platinum, and included hit records like “Cupid” and “Only You”. The group quickly followed up their debut with yet another double Platinum offering. “Room 112” dropped just two years later and featured records like “Come See Me” and “Anywhere”. In recent years, the group has been performing to sold out crowds and released 112 FOREVER EP in 2020.

Treena Parvello, Director of Government and Public Relations for the Tohono O’odham Gaming Enterprise, said, “We’re thrilled to welcome R-Dub!, Hi-Five, and 112 to celebrate 30 years of Sunday Night Slow Jams®!”
