The Karate Kid. 12-year-old Dre Parker (Jaden Smith) could've been the most popular kid in Detroit, but his mother's (Taraji P. Henson) latest career move has landed him in China. Dre immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying—and the feeling is mutual—but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible. This remake of the Karate Kid got off to a rocky start when fans heard the movie would be titled The Kung Fu Kid. Also stars Jackie Chan. Sony Pictures.  Winter's Bone is based on the novel by Daniel Woodrell. An unflinching Ozark Mountain girl hacks through dangerous social terrain as she hunts down her drug-dealing father while trying to keep her family intact. It is the story of 17 year-old Ree Dolly (Jennifer Lawrence) who tries to track down her father, who put their house up for his bail bond and then disappeared. WINTER'S BONE film is directed by Debra Granik (DOWN TO THE BONE). The film stars Jennifer Lawrence, John Hawkes, Kevin Breznahan, Dale Dickey, Garret Dillahunt, Sheryl Lee and Tate Taylor.
