EVENT DATE: Saturday, October 16, 2021, 1-3 p.m
EVENT LOCATION: Zoom at: https://arizona.zoom.us/j/96581762006
From 1992 to 2021, four Candyman horror films debuted, inspired by a true incident in African American history. The first is now a cult classic and the more modern 2021 sequel was highly anticipated. Just in time for Halloween join us in a discussion that explores all four films and the history behind them.
First: Watch the streaming video on your own — free of charge on Tubi at https://tubitv.com/movies/585129/candyman?start=true&utm_source=google-feed&tracking=google-feed.
Second: Join the Tucson Black Film Club for a synopsis of the films and an online discussion at https://arizona.zoom.us/j/96581762006.
Dr. Tani Sanchez, Africana Studies; Annie Sykes, Black Women’s Task Force; and Barbara Lewis, the Dunbar Center, lead the discussions. No charge. Sponsors include St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church and Africana Studies at the University of Arizona.
