Ballet Tucson Pop Up Performances

April 11, 2021 @ 11:30 am - April 24, 2021 @ 5:30 pm MST

Ballet Tucson announces the return of their celebrated Pop Up Performances

Tucson’s only professional ballet company has announced the return of their critically acclaimed Pop Up Performances. Tucsonans can experience the inspiring talent of the company’s professional dancers outdoors at unique settings throughout the city.

Ballet Tucson is thrilled to be returning to the Tucson Museum of Art, and to add two new locations to their lineup: Brandi Fenton Memorial Park and Rillito Regional Park. These performances include five new choreographic works by Associate Director Chieko Imada and Ballet Master Daniel Precup that feature a diverse array of dance styles and moods, from comedic to contemplative.

Performances will take place on weekends throughout April (with the possibility of more dates and locations to follow) and adhere to local safety policies. The company urges attendees to visit their website in advance of each performance for details: https://ballettucson.org/performances-and-tickets/

Tucson Museum of Art: Sunday April 11th 11:30am & 12:30pm (admission is required)

Brandi Fenton Memorial Park: Sunday April 18th 11:30am & 12:30pm (free to the public)

Rillito Regional Park: Saturday April 24th 5:30pm & 6:30pm (free to the public)

After Ballet Tucson’s Fall and Holiday Pop Up Performances received such a highly positive response, the organization has been committed to offering more in 2021. “It was very inspiring to see how much our community loved each of our previous Pop Up Performances.” says Margaret Mullin, the company’s Artistic Associate & Media Director. “It is very clear that people are missing the experience of attending live performances. Having the opportunity to see the beauty of dance in person (and in such a unique way) is very powerful and uplifting for our audiences, and we are grateful to be able to reconnect with them.”

Ballet Tucson is also offering a variety of digital content free to the public through their newly created YouTube channel; including Ballet Tucson 101 with Zippora Karz, Dancer Profile videos and their For the Love of Ballet Digital Event: https://bit.ly/Ballet-Tucson-YouTube

The encouragement the organization has received from the Tucson community has given them hope for a return to the stage in 2021; however additional funding is critical to their ability to have a 36th season. After falling $27,000 short of their February fundraising goal, Ballet Tucson is participating in Arizona Gives Day, a statewide fundraising event for local nonprofits. Fans of the ballet are encouraged to make a tax-deductible donation on the Arizona Gives platform through April 6th: https://www.azgives.org/ballettucson

About Ballet Tucson’s 2020/2021 Season
Ballet Tucson has stepped into its 35th season with determination and vigor. The new Ballet Tucson Bravo League was founded to provide additional support to the organization and to foster a new generation of ballet supporters. This group of accomplished young patrons implements innovative marketing strategies and plans digital events to support important fundraising goals. Last summer, patrons and community members came together to achieve a $50,000 fundraising goal that was equally matched by loyal supporters Florence and Larry Adamson.
