Have you been to Second Saturdays downtown recently? We love everything that these events bring to the neighborhood and starting next month, the Fox is getting in on the action with our Music and Movies series. Every month we’ll be pairing one-of-a-kind performances by local music artists with a music themed film. The entire event is only $12.50 for adults and $10 for children.

Tirebiters

The Tirebiters feature 5 accomplished musicians and play original American Rock and Blues music:

Lex Browning, the main singer/ songwriter of the band is from Kentucky and he’s an accomplished player on guitar, fiddle, mandolin. He has played fiddle and guitar for Queen Ida, Pam Tillis, The Austin Lounge Lizards, The Nelson Twins, and Tanya Tucker. Most recently he has become a member of Poco, the famed country rock band, on guitar, fiddle, and vocals. Poco has performed his songs

Steve Grams is from North Dakota, and is an internationally known bassist who’s played just about everywhere, most recently with Bad New Blues in Tucson.. one of the great blues bassists and a fantastic singer/songwriter in his own right.

Matt Mitchell is one of the finest jazz players on The West Coast, but he’s also adept on many other styles of music—his intuitive musical interplay with Lex is mind bending and with take you back to the great bands of the 60’s!

Les Merrihew hails from the great Pacific Northwest, where he is known as one of the steadiest and inventive drummers around. Along with the Tirebiters, you can hear him in Tucson with Paul Green and Midnight Blue

Eric Schaffer plays guitar and is blessed with a rich baritone voice. He hails from New Jersey and has worked with Leslie West of the band, Mountain. Along with the Tirebiters, he leads his own project know as The Other TroubleMakers

Almost Famous (2000)
The early 1970s. William Miller is 15-years old and an aspiring rock journalist. He gets a job writing for Rolling Stone magazine. His first assignment: tour with the band Stillwater and write about the experience. Miller will get to see what goes on behind the scenes in a famous band, including the moments when things fall apart. Moreover, for him, it will be a period of new experiences and finding himself.
