Blood donors will help kids like 10-year-old Avari, who will receive her 104th blood transfusion during the Memorial Day holiday week. She was born with Diamond Blackfan Anemia, a rare blood disorder that prevents her body from producing her own red blood cells. She relies on the kindness of strangers to provide lifesaving blood transfusions every month to keep her alive, a need that expected to continue her entire life. “Avari lives on borrowed blood,” says her mom,Anya. “Without regular blood donors, my daughter might not be here.”
