Tucson Comic-Con Guest Spotlight – Brian Pulido and Billy Tucci!

Tucson Comic-Con continues to spotlight our incredible guest lineup – with surprises still to come! Tucson Comic-Con is a local favorite and guarantees an exciting experience for enthusiasts of all things geek and pop culture. Prepare to be dazzled by an exciting group of actors, authors, artists, and more, as they bring their amazing talent and creativity to Tucson.

Brian Pulido – Brian Pulido is the founder and publisher of Coffin Comics, the independent comics studio that publishes the “Coffinverse” line of graphic novels including: Lady Death, La Muerta, Hellwitch, Lady Satanus and other heavy metal inspired supernatural comic books and merchandise. In the 90’s, Pulido was the publisher of Chaos! Comics where he created and wrote the Chaos! Universe, including: Evil Ernie, Purgatori and others. Additionally, he has published or written comics based on A Nightmare on Elm St., Chucky, Friday The 13th, Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Megadeth, Insane Clown Posse, WWE and many more.

Pulido is on The Hero Initiative’s fundraising board, has received the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund’s Defender of Liberty Award and Comic Con International’s Inkpot Award for contributions to the comic arts.

Billy Tucci – Inkpot Award recipient Billy Tucci is a cartoonist best known for his modern-day samurai saga Shi, which began with The Way of the Warrior in 1994. Through his company, Crusade Fine Arts, Shi has been printed in five languages and sold more than 3 million comic books. In addition to his own creations, the graduate of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology has earned the prestigious Diamond Comics Gem Award and has been nominated for four Eisner Awards. Billy’s DC Comics’ graphic novel, Sgt. Rock: The Lost Battalion, was awarded the Military Writers Society of America Gold Medal for its depiction of the highly decorated, real-life 442nd Regimental Combat Team, which was composed of Japanese-American soldiers.

Tucci’s earnest retelling of the Christmas story in A Child Is Born has turned into an international blockbuster, winning the Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year Award. His critically acclaimed Miss Fury: Joy Division saw the return of the Golden Age Icon for Dynamite Comics. Billy has recently released Shi: Return of the Warrior, Shi: Haikyo, Shi: Omnibus Edition, Shi: Sakura and Zombie-Sama via Kickstarter and Indiegogo uniting backers from over fifty countries and bringing Crusade Comics’ previous exclusive crowdfunding campaign totals to over $1,000,000.00.
