Tucson Comic-Con’s “Little Heroes” Event Just a Week Away
The excitement is building as Tucson Comic-Con prepares for its eagerly anticipated event, “Little Heroes,” a specialized experience at the convention designed for children undergoing specialized medical care. Scheduled to take place September 2nd at 9:00 AM, at the Tucson Convention Center, this event promises an unforgettable experience for young patients and their families, highlighting the magic of imagination, the strength of spirit, and the unity of community support.
Little Heroes has ignited enthusiasm, with RSVPs flowing in for nearly 100 children and their family members, who confront an array of challenges including developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and cancer. After a pandemic-induced hiatus, this year’s event carries special significance as it marks the Candlelighters program’s first set of invites post-Covid.
A standout feature of this year’s Little Heroes is the spirited engagement of the Davis Monthan Air Force Base Exceptional Family Members Program. Following their enchanting experience last year, the program swiftly claimed all 150 allocated tickets in a mere 10 minutes, demonstrating the event’s immense popularity. This year, the program, in partnership with the DM50 organization, has donated $1000 to the EFMP office, expanding the event’s reach to families on the waiting list, exemplifying their commitment to spreading joy within the community.
As the countdown continues to the event, the Tucson Comic-Con team is thrilled to announce that Little Heroes will welcome over 400 attendees, including children, their families, and costumed characters primed to captivate the children’s imagination. This all-encompassing event brings together assistance from Banner Medical Center and Tucson Medical Center, the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation and the Davis Monthan Air Force Base Exceptional Family Members Program, united in their effort to curate a remarkable and deeply touching experience for those who need it most.
The spirit of camaraderie and unity will be felt palpably during Little Heroes, as attendees delight in exclusive early access to the convention’s first floor. This rare opportunity allows children and their families to engage with professional costume groups, embodying their beloved characters. Swag bags, personalized photos, and encounters with Superheroes, Star Wars characters, and video game personas will etch lasting memories for attendees.
With a mere week remaining until the event, Tucson Comic-Con eagerly awaits the arrival of Little Heroes participants, poised to create an extraordinary celebration of creativity, resilience, and unity. The entire community is invited to be part of this enchanting experience.
