On Thursday, August 29, 2024, American Legion Post 34 will host the annual “Be the One” golf tournament and Joe Kliegl Memorial Tribute to benefit veterans. Be the One is a national effort that focuses on veteran suicide.
The charity golf tournament serves as a primary fundraiser for the Post’s veteran programs, including “Be the One,” which focuses on improving the lives of veterans and their families. The national goal of “Be the One” is to eliminate the stigma associated with mental health treatment and in turn, lower the number of veterans who die by suicide everyday. The number of veterans who die by suicide daily is estimated at between 17 and 22.
Registration is now open for the event, which will be held at Rancho Mañana Golf Course, located at 5734 E. Rancho Mañana Boulevard in Cave Creek. Check-in starts at 7:00 AM followed by an opening ceremony and a 7:45 AM shotgun start with a scramble format. A luncheon, silent auction and awards ceremony will follow immediately at Post 34, which is located at 6272 E. Cave Creek Road, Cave Creek.
The fee is $125 per player. Individual golfers and twosomes will be paired into foursomes. Register and pay at Post 34 by August 15, 2024. Guests may attend a luncheon and silent auction afterwards for $15.
Sponsorships and silent auction donations are greatly appreciated. For more information about the Frank W. Wright Post 34 American Legion Annual “Be the One” Golf tournament and Joe Kliegl Memorial tribute, contact Sandy Cuttino at cutnoeng@gmail.com or call 760.242.8230.
