Partnering with NFL Alumni, NBA Alumni, Raising Cane’s Restaurant, VIP Mortgage, Barbers, Hairstylists and more!
WHAT: Back to School Fresh Start Event with the Rise & Dream Foundation to prepare at-risk children with all the supplies and resources they need to have a successful school year.

The Rise & Dream Foundation is proud to announce the 12th annual Back To School Fresh Start event. This will be an opportunity for at-risk children to receive haircuts, backpacks, school supplies, hygiene items, clothes, shoes, food, drinks and receive signed autographs from Pro NFL and NBA and College players. The event will be held at Geneva Epps Mosley Middle School 1025 S Beck Ave. Tempe, AZ, on Sunday July 28th from 2-6pm. Registration is required for children to attend at www.riseanddreamfoundation.com, as spots are limited.
“The RISE & DREAM Foundation has already delivered over 15,000+ supplies to students all over the Valley,” says Kristin Sewell Hodge, founder of RISE, “And, we’re excited to host this year’s event to help all students from Kindergarten to High School start their school year well-prepared and excited to do great work.”
The children attending will get the opportunity for autographs and pictures with NBA Alumni, Olden Polynice (Clippers, Seattle, Pistons, Kings, Jazz), Jeff Malone (Heat, Jazz, 76ers) and David Jones (Seattle) along with NFL Alumni, Jashon Sykes (Broncos), Jeremy Bridges (Cardinals, Panthers, Redskins), Robert Tate (Cardinals, Vikings), JD Hill (Bills, Lions) and more.
Raising Cane’s will be hosting a fun giveaway area for all children to receive a free kids meal and hydrate with their amazing sweet tea and lemonade.
Children will move around the event from station to station to receive some well needed supplies. First, attendees will pick out a backpack and school supplies sponsored by VIP Mortgage Foundation. Then they will receive toothbrushes and toothpaste kits supplied by Queen Creek Dental. Go With The Flow Foundation, will be on site to pass out feminine hygiene items to all girls in need. Our drink and snack area will be full of water and pastries supplied by Sprouts as well as Gatorade and Tropicana Apple Juice provided by Pepsico. .
Haircuts are being provided by Hinolos Barber Academy, NW Hairstylist, Borrossos Barber Studio, The Cut Tempe Barber Shop, Above the Fade, as well as independent barbers and hairstylists volunteering their time. Finally, parents will have an opportunity to pick out a few gently used clothes and shoes donated by the community for their children or themselves as well.
